Tax Information


Payment Methods
We accept cash or cheque. We also accept Interac E-transfers.  Please contact the office prior to sending an E-transfer in order to ensure we are able to complete the transaction.


Tax Notices
Tax notices are generally mailed out during the first two weeks of June.  If you have not received your tax notice by the end of July please contact the office.


What time frame do taxes cover?
Taxes cover the time frame from January 1 to December 31.

Tax discount
Taxes can be paid prior to receiving your tax notice the amount paid will be based on the previous years taxes.  The discount schedule applies to the Municipal portion of taxes only.
 10% discount until the 31st of July.
In order to receive the discount you must make payment before the final business day of the discount month deadline or if you are mailing your payment it must be post marked prior to the final day of that month.  THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.

When are taxes due?
Taxes are due on or before December 31 of the current tax year, after December 31 penalties will be levied on arrears.  The penalty on tax arrears is 12% per annum.
Arrears

All unpaid invoices to the Municipality as of Devember 31st will become tax arrears and a 12% penalty will be added January 1st.


Assessment Notices
Assessment notices are only mailed when there has been a change to your assessment, generally every four years, unless you have changes to your assessment in the time between the province wide reassessments.  The next reassessment year is 2021.


What is the millrate for 2019?
The Municipal millrate for 2019 has been set at 5.5 mills.
The Education mill rates are as follows: Ag 1.43 residential 4.12 commercial 6.27

What is the base tax?
The base tax is $450.00, it is applied to all lots within the Village, commercial, agricultural and residential.

What is the Infrastructure Fee?
A $50.00 base tax has been applied per titled property.  This fee is to be put aside for future capital expenditures.  This includes things such as lagoon upgrades, building upgrades, equipment or significant upgrades to existing capital infrastructure.
